He heard about Ryuk dropping his death note into the human world, and after watching from afar, and writing names in his own death note to get more years, he decided to visit the human world himself. He is quite facinated by Kira, and when he's not cauing a lot of death to gain more years, he's keeping up with the Kira Investigation. He's trying to find out who L is so that he can then find Light and taunt him with the knowledge and refusing to share it.
